These terms apply to your use of this website and to purchases made through it. Information about shipping, returns and exchanges is set out separately on the Shipping & Returns page.
Each Maison Char piece begins as an original wax model, sculpted by hand, before being cast in precious metal and finished by hand in my Sydney studio.
Because every piece is handmade, minor variations in texture, finish and detail are to be expected and form part of its individual character. A variation that is disclosed on the product page, or that is a normal result of hand making, is not considered a defect. Gemstones also vary in colour, pattern and natural features from stone to stone.
Product photographs are intended to represent the finished piece as closely as possible. Slight differences may nonetheless occur due to photography, lighting, screen settings and the handmade nature of the jewellery.
All prices are shown in Australian dollars (AUD) and include Goods and Services Tax (GST) where applicable.
The price displayed on a product page is the price of the piece itself. Shipping is calculated separately at checkout, and international orders may also be subject to duties and taxes imposed by the destination country.
From time to time I offer discount codes. A code takes the stated percentage off the price of the pieces in your order (it doesn’t apply to shipping), only one code can be used per order, and it can’t be combined with another offer. Each code stops working after its expiry date, and codes can’t be exchanged for cash.
Maison Char reserves the right to correct pricing errors and to update prices from time to time. A change in price will not affect an order that has already been placed and accepted.
If you need to change your order, please get in touch as soon as possible. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate a change, but this cannot be guaranteed once an order has been processed or dispatched.
Maison Char reserves the right to cancel or decline an order where reasonably necessary, for example where a one-of-a-kind piece is no longer available or an error has been identified in a listing. If an order is cancelled in this way, any payment already made will be refunded in full.
Maison Char is a small, independent studio and values courteous communication. Maison Char reserves the right to decline, pause or end its work with any person whose behaviour is abusive, disrespectful or unreasonable, including by declining enquiries, orders or commissions.
Unless otherwise indicated, all content published on this website is the intellectual property of Maison Char and is protected by copyright. This includes the jewellery designs, photography, product names, the Maison Char name and logo, and all written material.
No part of this content may be duplicated, republished, adapted, circulated or exploited commercially without the prior written permission of Maison Char. Requests to feature or reference my work are welcome and can be sent by email.
Every bespoke piece is made individually for you, and no two handmade pieces are ever exactly alike. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, I keep the copyright in the designs I create, including sketches, wax models and finished designs, and I may use similar design elements, techniques or styles in future work.
I won’t reproduce an exact copy of your piece, any personal details such as engravings, initials or symbols that are meaningful to you, or any design based on your own drawing or artwork, without your permission. If you’d like your design to be exclusive, please ask: this can be arranged for an additional fee.
I love documenting the pieces I make, so I may photograph or film your jewellery during the making process and before it leaves my studio, and share those images on my website, social media and in my portfolio. I’ll only ever show the jewellery itself. I won’t share your name, your personal details, or any engraving or personal message without your permission.
If you’d prefer your piece stays private, or would like me to wait before sharing it (for example, if it’s a surprise gift or an engagement ring before a proposal), just let me know when you order or reply to your order confirmation email, and I’ll respect that.
If you share photos of yourself wearing Maison Char, I’ll always ask before reposting them, and will credit you if you’d like.
Reasonable care is taken to keep the information on this website accurate and current. However, Maison Char makes no warranty that the website will operate without interruption or that its content will be free from errors, omissions or out-of-date details.
Subject to applicable law, Maison Char accepts no liability for any indirect or consequential loss arising from access to or use of this website, or from purchases made through it.
Your statutory rights under the Australian Consumer Law remain fully intact. Nothing on this page is intended to remove any consumer guarantee or remedy that the law does not permit to be waived.
