Maison Char is a one-person studio, and I treat your details the way I’d want mine treated: I only collect what I need to make, send and look after your order, and I never sell or rent your information to anyone.
What I collect
- When you order: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address and the details of your order, including any ring size, engraving or personalisation notes.
- When you get in touch: your name, email address and whatever you include in your message, through the contact form or by email.
- When you sign up for email updates (such as my launch announcement): your email address, and your name if you give it.
- For bespoke work: the ideas, drawings, photos and details you share with me so I can design your piece.
I never see or store your card or bank details. Payments are handled entirely by PayPal.
How I use it
- To make, ship and support your order, and to contact you about it.
- To reply to your enquiries and work with you on bespoke pieces.
- To send you the email updates you signed up for, and nothing else. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To keep the business and tax records I’m required to keep.
- To protect checkout from fraud. The website counts how many times checkout is started from each internet connection, using a scrambled code rather than your actual internet address, and deletes these counts after two days. PayPal also tells me whether a payment shows any warning signs, so I can check before posting.
Who helps me
A few trusted services handle parts of the process for me, and only receive what they need to do their part:
- PayPal processes payments.
- Netlify hosts this website and receives orders and contact form messages.
- Cloudflare checks that checkout is being used by a real person rather than a bot. It looks at basic information from your browser for this, and doesn’t use it for advertising.
- Brevo sends order confirmation emails and the email updates you’ve signed up for.
- Australia Post (or an international carrier) delivers your parcel, using your name and address.
Some of these services store information outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe. Each has its own privacy policy explaining how it protects your information.
Your browser
This website doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and I don’t run analytics that follow you around the web. Your cart, any discount code you enter and your checkout details are remembered only in your own browser, so they’re there if you come back to them. Your checkout details are cleared when you close the tab or place your order. PayPal may use its own cookies when you pay.
Photos of your piece
I may share photos of jewellery I’ve made, but never your name or personal details. See Photographs of Your Piece in my Terms for how this works, and how to ask me to keep your piece private.
Keeping, correcting or deleting your information
I keep order records for as long as I need them for your order, any warranty or repair, and my tax obligations. You can ask me at any time what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete anything I don’t need to keep. Just email hello@maisonchar.com and I’ll reply personally.
Changes
If the way I handle your information changes, I’ll update this page. Last updated October 2026.
